Ah, Christmas. The time of year when you get to wrap up in lots of layers so nobody can see the pointy bit of your chest (mwhahaha).
It’s also the time of year when family and friends buy you gifts, and often those gifts are clothes. Now, although their heart is in the right place (they’re just trying to be nice), clothes are probably the worst gift that a pigeon chest sufferer can receive. Here’s why:
- They’re too small – This is the problem that I run into most frequently. Most of my friends and family don’t know what size I am, and tend to buy me clothes that are too small. Now, my chest is hardly visible normally, but if I’m wearing a tight top then it can be very visible. Which is not cool at all.
- People touch you – Maybe this is just my family, but if they get me some clothes they IMMEDIATELY start touching me. They want to feel the material, they want to see if it fits me ok and they generally just want to get touchy feely. NOT COOL.
- They don’t fit your brace – This is maybe the worst one. I LOVE getting clothes as a present, and when my family have made the effort to get me something that they know I’ll like (and which is my exact size), I’m so happy. But I find so often that the clothes don’t fit me when I’m wearing my brace, which sucks so much! I guess I just can’t win when it comes to getting clothes.
